4th Annual Sioux Falls GREATLIFE CHALLENGE KICKS OFF AUGUST 30th

SIOUX FALLS, SD (August 27, 2018) – GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness Club in conjunction with the Sioux Falls Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CVB) is proud to host the 4th Annual Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge at Willow Run as part of the LPGA Symetra Tour – Road to the LPGA.

The tournament will be held August 30-September 2 at Willow Run Golf Course and marks Sioux Falls’ fourth year as host to an LPGA event of this magnitude. Once again, the city has an opportunity to showcase its world-class amenities and Midwest hospitality to 142 ambitious players and interested spectators from around the globe.

The Sioux Falls GreatLIFE Challenge is one of only four 72-hole events on the tour and one of only 21 cities to host the tour. Once again, the city has an opportunity to showcase its world-class amenities and Midwest hospitality to 142 ambitious players and interested spectators from around the globe. According to the CVB, Sioux Falls will see more than $3 million in economic impact, depending on overall attendance.

About the Field

The current field will represent 31 countries, 26 different US states and 24 of the top 25 players on the money list. Golfers participating in the tournament have a shot at a purse of $210,000-with the winner taking home $31,500 – and points in the Volvik Race for the Card toward a coveted spot on the pro tour.

Sioux Falls native, high school standout and Northwestern College freshman Kate Wynja will join the tournament as an exemption. Wynja made national headlines earlier this summer in the state high school golf tournament for reporting her own scorecard error, disqualifying herself from the tournament she was poised to win.

The second exemption for the tournament is 16-year-old Swedish golfer Julia Engstrom who turned pro just this year after numerous amateur wins and accolades. For the past two years she has been the world’s highest ranked golfer born in the 21st Century. Engstrom competed in the British Open, missing the cut by just two strokes. She is also currently ranked rookie of the year on the Ladies European Tour and recently won the Ladies European Access Tour in Finland.

Last year’s winner, Celine Boutier of France, finished the tournament with an 11 under 273 total.
