Julia Engstrom, Swedish Pro Golfer
GreatLIFE is excited to announce that two sponsor exemptions have been added to the Symetra Tour GreatLIFE Challenge August 30th – September 2nd at Willow Run Golf Course.
Sioux Falls native, high school standout and soon to be Northwestern College freshman Kate Wynja will join the tournament and play alongside 142 golf professionals. Wynja made national headlines earlier this summer in the state high school golf tournament for reporting her own scorecard error, disqualifying herself from the tournament she was poised to win.
“She’s the type of girl and the type of golfer that we want to give an opportunity to. She plays with integrity and now will play with some of the best golfers in the world,” says Jason Sudenga of GreatLIFE.
Every year, GreatLIFE allows a local amateur golfer to play in the event. GreatLIFE typically holds a qualifier, but this year they have selected Kate.
Wynja will be joined by 16-year-old Swedish golfer Julia Engstrom who turned pro just this year after numerous amateur wins and accolades. For the past two years she has been the world’s highest ranked golfer born in the 21st Century. Engstrom competed in the British Open, missing the cut by just two strokes. She is also currently ranked rookie of the year on the Ladies European Tour and recently won the Ladies European Access Tour in Finland.
